The Green
Presented by Island 98.5 // Special Guest DJ Hapa Boy

For over 15 years, The Green has been a cornerstone of the reggae music scene, seamlessly blending island roots with global appeal. Based in Hawaii, the band has become one of the most beloved and influential acts to emerge from the islands, pioneering U.S. mainland tours and sharing stages with reggae legends like Rebelution, Iration, SOJA, and Jamaica’s own Damian Marley. Their widespread acclaim caught the attention of Grammy-winning superstar Bruno Mars, who invited them to open for his sold-out shows at Honolulu’s Blaisdell Arena in 2014 and Hawaii’s iconic Aloha Stadium in 2018.

With themes of family, resilience, and unity woven into their music, The Green has cultivated a devoted global fanbase. Classics like "All I Need," "Love I," and "Wake Up" continue to resonate with long-time listeners, while collaborations with artists such as J Boog on tracks like "Feelings," "Never Give Up," and "Fire up Di Roses" draw in new audiences. Their recent collab, Day by Day, featuring fellow Hawaii artist Kolohe Kai, celebrates the Aloha spirit and furthers their mission of spreading positivity.

    The Green: Hawaii’s Reggae Powerhouse

The Green’s festival appearances are as impressive as their touring history. They’ve captivated audiences at iconic events such as Vans Warped Tour, California Roots Festival, Sierra Nevada World Music Festival, One Love Cali Reggae Festival, and Holo Holo Music Festival. In 2024, the band reached a career milestone, headlining arena shows on Maui and Oahu alongside special guest Allen Stone, delivering electrifying performances to their hometown fans.

From their debut album to their latest EP, Summertime, The Green has consistently transported listeners to a realm of sincerity, culture, and growth. Their 2021 album, Brand New Eyes, marked a transformative phase in their journey—not just as musicians but as husbands and fathers. To celebrate its release, the band hosted Brand New Eyes: The Experience, Hawaii’s first rooftop concert, atop Waikiki’s International Market Place. This landmark event, captured on their YouTube channel, highlighted The Green’s creativity and connection to their roots.

The Green will also be releasing the original version of a fan favorite — Coming Home — on Friday, June 13.

Currently, The Green is taking a step out of their comfort zone to focus on two meaningful ventures: a brick-and-mortar establishment, The Green General, and a nonprofit organization, Ka Ma’o. Located on the beautiful island of Kaua’i, The Green General offers ono shaved ice, local snacks, and exclusive merchandise, serving as the only physical location for fans to purchase The Green’s merch. Ka Ma’o, a lifelong dream come true for the band, is dedicated to giving back by mentoring aspiring musicians and sharing the lessons they’ve learned on their journey.

The Green continues to inspire, connecting fans worldwide to the essence of Hawaiian reggae and the enduring spirit of Aloha.
