Discover a JazzFest, weekend Fish Fry in a restored 1800s Victorian Brownstone in Brooklyn’s Landmarked Historical District, of Bedford Stuyvesant. The venue is perserved with a cultural awareness from a different period of music sharing . Allowing the vibe of authentic jazz of yesteryear, in an intimate, private music venue.
Debbie McClain, owner of Sankofa Aban B and B and Eric Lemons an accomplished string musician invite you to spend a magical evening These two host present you with some of today's best Jazz artist.
Come see how authentic jazz was donewhen Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn had one of the largest Jazz community around. During the 1930s, perhaps even earlier, one didn’t have to go to Manhattan for the Jazz scene, Brooklyn had it’s own.
Brooklyn held many venues that housed jazz greats like Thelonius Monk, Lena Horne, Carmen McRae, Randy Weston, Miles Davis, Max Roach, Abbey Lincoln, Hank Mobley, Eubie Blake, Ray Abrams, Betty Carter and others. All that eventually changed, and jazz clubs fizzled out in favor of a different generation of music, along with many Uptown and Midtown jazz spots.
DebbieMc, along with Eric Lemons values authenticity and selectiveness, when deciding who to feature and when.
“REMEMBERING WHEN” a celebration of music lived in the hearts of many.
