For nearly three decades, New York’s own The Horse You Rode In On has been delivering their eclectic brand of hard-hitting rock with an unparalleled live show as well as on their critically acclaimed studio efforts. Individually and as a unit, members have worked with a diverse list of artists from Jimmy Buffett, The Wailers and Maceo Parker to Toxic and Demolition Hammer. There are definite nods to early Punk with the theatrical elements of Alice Cooper and The Tubes. With this seemingly infinite list of influences, The Horse has created a sound that is powerful, infectious and truly their own. The Horse has been recognized many times over the years including being honored as “Best Unsigned Band” in the SKC - New York Music Awards. They can be big and brash, then amazingly sensitive - straight-up NY, then a bit LA. When asked to define their sound, Bassist Joel Finn was quoted as saying (over his Telefunken M80) “I really can’t say. I guess we’re still trying to figure that out”. In 2018, The Horse offers a limited tour with precious few chances to catch the band live. If you’ve seen them, you get it. If you haven’t, you should.
