OVEF OW is a 4-piece rock band that formed in the spring of 2015. The band's lineup features Marites Velasquez (bass), Sarah Braunstein (drums), Kyla Denham (synth) and Nick Barnett (guitar). Over the past year, the quartet has quickly built a following in the Chicago indie-music scene around their surf and garage/punk-inspired and multi-vocalist sound. They draw influences from Sonic Youth, Sleater-Kinney, and the B-52s.
SHE SPEAKS IN TONGUES (Solo)
Simultaneously frightening and awakening, SSIT is a vision that brings together brave voices of women in rock-and-roll to expose oppressive forces at present and throughout history. Inspired by ancient Blues veterans, iconic R&B, power-rock of the 1970s, and the experimental music of today. She speaks in tongues is the band that pulls audiences away from the bar and onto their feet.
Hailing from suburban life Meristems oiginated as the New Year's resolution project of Grace Urrutia in 2014 after a recording session at DZ records. The band plays live as a four piece, with music that might be exploring a blend of dissonant instrumental parts and soft silky vocals that in turn create a weirdly soothing dynamic all in itself. The mix can come off mysteriously poppy through the lens of Urrutia’s melody in some songs. The album -Winter Assembly (2015)- which was a collaboration between multiple members is the first album released by Meristems under Ghost Track Media.
IMPULSIVE HEARTS (Solo)
Impulsive Hearts is Chicago in the summertime, beaches, swimming after dark, dance parties, bright colors, sweat, glitter, and love on an endless loop.
