Grades K-2 - Creatures in the Garden
Spring is the season of blooming flowers and growing plants, but what might lie behind those plants? Students in this class will imagine what unknown animals or mythical creatures would live in a magic garden. Design and create new magical creatures and imagine how they might interact with one another. Use different art making processes and stop motion animation techniques to bring these dream creatures to life!
Grades 3-5 - Radical Robots
With so many new developments in technology, everyone is talking about ROBOTS! In this course students will dream up new robots and what they might do in the future! Using some basic technology to create their own unique robot puppet, students will use stop motion animation and professional cameras and software to show what these advanced robots would do!
Grades 6- 8 Inspired By The Masters: PES and Found Object Animation
PES is a master of found object stop motion animation and is known for short films like Fresh Guacamole and Western Spaghetti. Students will create their own short transforming everyday objects into something completely different. Young animators will be given a variety of materials to explore, and are welcome to personalize the film with a favorite object of their own! The group will capture these creatively playful ideas by creating their own stop motion films and carrying out various animation exercises.
Extended care is available from 3:30-5pm.
Films created in these workshops will screen at the 2019 Festival!
