This September, “Taste of Iceland” is taking over Brooklyn for a four-day celebration of Icelandic cuisine, art, design and culture. The interactive celebration showcasing the best of Iceland will offer attendees an experiential glimpse into the inspirational elements of Icelandic culture. Gourmands, film enthusiasts, design devotees, bibliophiles, concert-goers and art aficionados will all find an Icelandic experience to appreciate throughout the long-weekend festivities.

Attendees can experience authentic Icelandic cuisine at Norman, attend an Icelandic short-film screening at Nitehawk Cinema, gain a better understanding of Iceland’s evolving design industry during a pop-up design event at Artists and Fleas, learn about Iceland’s robust storytelling culture during a literature event at Spoonbill & Sugartown Booksellers, rock out to Icelandic music during the Reykjavik Calling concert at Knitting Factory Brooklyn and become versed in Icelandic art during a free discussion at Okay Space Gallery

Presented by radio partner WFUV 90.7 FM, New York’s source for music discovery, Icelandic-American concert known as Reykjavik Calling will feature Icelandic artists Fufanu, whose new album Sports dropped on February 3, and Mammut, who released Kinder Versions on July 14, which has received rave reviews from international press including The Line of Best Fit. Salt Cathedral, known as the musical project of New-York based Columbian duo Juliana Ronderos and Nicolas Losada, will share the stage with Fufanu and Mammut. The free concert takes place on Saturday, September 30 from 8:00 – 11:00 p.m. at the Knitting Factory Brooklyn; doors open at 7:00 p.m. Interested attendees are encouraged to register here to reserve their spot. Admission to this free concert is granted on a first-come, first serve basis. Guests must be over 18 to attend.
