21 years and over
The Moondoggies are 5 friends from Everett Washington. Some members have played music together in different forms since 2001.
Before they were 21 they played under the moniker The Familiars. Playing around Seattle and opening up for bands like Mudhoney,The Catheters,The Lights, and Biography Of Ferns. The sound at the time was essentially in the vein of The Mc5,Stooges,and Nirvana.
In 2006 Kevin Murphy formed what would become The Moondoggies. A project that was focused on incorporating more sounds and influences then the previous incarnation had allowed. The difference from the familiars being a freedom to fingerpick an acoustic guitar and sing 3-part harmonies, write a 9 minute jam, or essentially have no rules what so ever in the writing process. Writers have put The Moondoggies into many categories, "Cosmic Country," "Americana," "Folk Rock," "swamp boogie." The Moondoggies simply call it "ROCK AND ROLL."
From the 2008-2013 The Moondoggies released 3 LP's and 2 EP's with Sub Pop Imprint "Hardly Art," and toured the country playing alongside Blitzen Trapper,Cave Singers,Rose Windows,The Head and The Heart, and Dawes.
In 2017 after taking some time off to write and be with family The Moondoggies reunited with Producer Erik Blood (Shabazz Palaces,Thee Satisfaction,Pickwick) and recorded their 4th full length to be released in 2018.
