21 years and over
YOU'LL NEVER GET TO HEAVEN is the duo of Alice Hansen, a classically trained pianist and violinist, and Chuck Blazevic, a studio-obsessed tone-sculptor and monome performer. Together they combine their disparate perspectives to co-curate every element of YNGTH together as equals. After gaining a groundswell of support from fans and critics all over the globe for their 2012 self-titled debut and 2014's Adorn, the group caught the attention of indie upstart Yellow K Records (Japanese Breakfast, Eskimeaux) on the strength of their breakout single "Caught In a Time, So Far Away". The band has partnered with Yellow K for the release of this year's outstanding new album, Images, in a break from their otherwise staunchly independent ethos. While YNGTH has been reclusive in the past playing only a handful of select festival dates, we're lucky enough to host their enthralling dream-pop here on this here summer tour.
LYKANTHEA is Lakshmi Ramgopal, an ambient electronic artist who divides her time between Chicago, IL and Northampton, MA. Her debut EP Migration drew praise from Chicago Reader, Chicago Tribune, and Noisey, who write: “LYKANTHEA’s soundscapes are about crafting an overall echo of a memory.” Ramgopal's performances feature synths, harmonium drones, and processed vocal improvisation that draws on classical South Indian vocal techniques. In addition to appearances at NYU and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, she has toured Europe and collaborated with composer Paula Matthusen on a sound installation for the American Academy in Rome’s show, Cinque Mostre. Her most recent project was "Maalai," a sound installation that was accompanied by new music that she'll be performing at the Bottle this evening with vocal support from Adele Nicholas (Axons) and Olivia Rose (formerly Distant Cities).
