Additional Information

An easily confused and very shy individual, Charlie Parr has been traveling around singing his songs ever since leaving Austin Minnesota in the 1980's in search of Spider John Koerner, whom he found about 100 miles north at the Viking Bar one Sunday night. The experience changed his life, made him more or less unemployable, and brings us to now: 13 recordings, 250 shows a year or more, 200,000 miles on a well broke in Kia, and a nasty fear of heights. Resonator fueled folk songs from Duluth Minnesota.

Michael Wohl - Roots, folk blues, and beyond: a musician with one ear to the ground and another to the voice within, ever-transported down twisting roads by his instincts, interests, and experience. Bending genres is no strange thing to him -- it in their synthesis in which his music comes alive. Always learning, shifting, and exploring (though difficult to peg) the music is anchored by touchstones of folk, country, and blues. He does not look back as a re-enactor of bygone eras, but inward, towards wherever the music takes him. Buy the ticket, take the ride.

"Wohl's got a curious mind and a roving eye when it comes to guitar work...the kind of artist that's always out following his ear to new musical inspirations...  a kind of blend of a lot of different guitar roots into one vision of Cascadian hardwood tone." - Kithfolk Magazine

"He plays as though he’s daydreaming through his guitar—effortlessly, uninhibited, seemingly unaware of the audience. His style is primitive, but not pedagogical, folky, but not interpretive. Behold, he’s a force." - American Standard Time
