Second time in New York! THE SECRET IS OUT. The great Irish powerpop band PUGWASH has been making classically beautiful, hook-laiden guitar rock songs for a decade, earning critical accolades and collaboration from the likes of Jellyfish, The Divine Comedy and XTC, whose Andy Partridge called them “almost Beatle-like in their greatness. They are that good.”  The group visited the U.S. for the first time this past October. Turning on thousands of new American fans, they’re back almost immediately for another tour, including their biggest NYC show ever at the Living Room with Church of Betty. Pugwash is composer/singer/guitarist Thomas Walsh, guitarist Tosh Flood, bassist Shaun McGee and drummer Joey Fitzgerald. Their CD A Rose in a Garden of Weeds (http://omnivorerecordings.com/artist/pugwash/) will plant melodies in your head that transform the color of the mind. Join us at the Living Room and experience history!

One of the mainstay original Living Room bands, veteran NYC Indo-pop group CHURCH OF BETTY is back tonight to celebrate the release of Swirled World, their first CD in years and one of their finest. Singer/sitarist/guitarist Chris Rael delivers a set of sophisticated, high-powered alt pop, driven by hooks that will stay with you long after.  Tonight’s all-star lineup includes guitarist Chris Cochrane, drummer Brian Geltner, violinist Rima Fand, violist Pinky Weitzman, bassoonist Claire de Brunner and bassist Marlon Cherry. An award-winning film and theatre composer, Rael has launched the astonishingly eclectic song-posting project Chris Rael 365, sharing a free song on Facebook and Twitter every day in 2015 (www.facebook.com/chrisrael365). Tonight’s double-bill with Pugwash promises to be flat-out unforgettable. Come down and soak it up with us!
