Performing, recording and touring together since the early 90s, Dave Specter and Tad Robinson combine the best of Chicago blues, R&B and soul with a high energy dose of fresh and original tunes.
Dave and Tad first began working together in the early 1990s recording 2 albums for Delmark Records including "Blueplicity" chosen as a "Top 10 CD of the Decade' by The Illinois Entertainer.
Specter's 2008 "Live in Chicago" CD/DVD, features Robinson on 3 tracks and was named to Downbeat magazine's Best Recordings of 2008
They'll be joined by Kevin Anker on Hammond organ (recently featured with The Fabulous Thunderbirds) along with Marty Binder on drums (Albert Collins, Junior Wells, Buddy Guy).
Singer, songwriter and harmonica player Tad Robinson has just finished recording his 4th recording for the Severn Records label, due out later this year.
In Downbeat Magazine, blues editor Frank Hadley summed up Robinson’s gifts, “Robinson places near the top of the list of the finest living singers of soul blues”. In a review of Tad’s latest disc, Back in Style, Mojo Magazine was more descriptive, “Robinson sings with a range and smoothness of delivery that are exquisitely evocative”. And Robinson’s hometown weekly, Metromix Indianapolis, heard in Tad’s music, “A velvet-voiced collection of cool.”
Robinson has been recognized by the music industry for his performances and recorded work with 7 Blues Music Award nominations since 2005. In addition, Robinson, as a songwriter, has contributed to the success of major motion pictures, “A Perfect Murder”, “The Guardian” and, “Under Siege”, in which he appears as a singer in a memorable scene with Tommy Lee Jones.
Guitarist, producer and bandleader Dave Specter just released his 10th album, Message in Blue on Chicago's Delmark Records.
Dave has been a fixture on the Chicago blues scene for nearly 30 years and recently completed an 8 country European tour in April. He'll be returning to Europe later this year with festival dates in Norway and Switzerland.
