Returning to the Bottle for their first time since April of 2011 are Sacred Bones noisemakers MOON DUO, a band who’s third LP Circles will be released next Tuesday, October 2. RIPLEY JOHNSON from WOODEN SHJIPS teamed up with SANAE YAMADA to create Kraut-inspired psych with a chilly underbelly that blows hundreds of stoner bands out of the water and back into their parents’ basements. Word from their label is that the album’s inspiration came from Ralph Waldo Emerson’s 1841 essay “Circles” on the symbol and nature of “the flying Perfect,” so prepare yourself to be launched into a trance-induced frenzy. REDGRAVE is a Chicago-based heavy-blues rock duo comprised of ANGIE MEAD and STEPHEN HOWARD. Their debut LP National Act features TIM RUTILI of CALIFONE and The Big Takeover says “the duo sounds like they’re preying on you, with their slow, deliberately plodding, simmering, stalking kind of stomp.” You’ve been warned. Last year VERMA released a 27-minute, 3-trac progressive psych experiment that continued their haunting of Chicago’s psych scene with its atmospheric, synth-heavy trance-rock. When they played the Bottel alongside LASERS + FAST + SHIT, PINK FROST and TOUCHED BY GHOUL at the end of August they pretty much blew everyone in the audience away. Tonight sees the celebration of their newest release and we can’t wait to hear what they've been up to. New records for everyone!
