Steve Moise,lead guitarist and founder of the Cleveland funk band Universal Funk Mob has been in the Midwest music scene for a while. Steve,origianlly from Tallahassee Florida,moved to Cleveland,Ohio when he was four years old. At the age of eight,he hear Jimi Hendrix play the Star Spangled Banner and caught the Hendrix bug every since.Steve is self taught and fell under the spell of the Funk around the age of 15. Steve has performed with such artists as P Funk,Cameo,George Johnson, Ray Parker JR, Adina Howard, Vincent and Reggie Calloway,Buddy Miles and Billy Cox of Jimi Hendrixs Band of Gypsies and many other R+B artists. He then formed Universal Funk Mob in 2004 with other founding member bassist,Ben Powers Jr.(akron,Oh). Other members are vocalist Dolly King(,Columbus,Oh) who sings with the Stone City Band, bass vocalist Marc Mitchell,(Columbus,Oh) who is from Gary Indiana originally,vocalist Monique Mitchell(columbus,Oh)lead/rhythm guitarist Vincent Lindsey( from Bedford,Ohio;drummer Cubby Buck(cleveland,Oh)and trombone and sax players William Fatbone Washington(originallly from Cincinnati but now in Cleveland and John from Cleveland.The group is a combination of the P funk/James Brown sound sprinked with Hendrix on the top. UFM continues to keep the flame of the funk burning. Check them out at a hall or club near you.
