It’s hard to believe that a show this heavy is free (as long as you RSVP by Friday at midnight). Local doom ensemble INDIAN make a triumphant return to the Bottle with a whole album of new songs released last year on Relapse Records, Guiltless. The newest music fits in with INDIAN’s previous efforts, furiously epic affairs full of sludgy, clattering metal. The Chicago Reader has called their punishing live shows “a five-alarm hellstorm,” and we agree that this is one not to miss as tonight they’re joined by notable heavies WITCH MOUNTAIN. Of last year’s South of Salem release, NPR praised “those massive, rumbling doom riffs aren’t just there to get your slow-motion headbang on, those riffs want to bore into your skull, crack open a beer and make you a lifer.” Their 3rd LP, Cauldron of the Wild is due out on Profound Lore Records mere days before their show here. They’re joined here tonight by fellow Portlanders LORD DYING, proving that lack of sunlight can lead to some epically sludgey doom riffs and local four-piece rock n' roll assault squad BIBLE OF THE DEVIL open with their brutal, tuneful, riff-laden garage metal anthems evoking images of urban debauchery, violence, human dementia, and conquest.
