Heavy... Weekly feat. a special listening party for JAR'D LOOSE'S new album "GOES TO PURGATORY" following the bands, and Stavros Giannopoulos of the Atlas Moth djing all night.

Beak's adept combination of blistering heaviness and melodic prog-rock sits within the traditions of Chicago's post metal landscape – at the same time fitting as well with the likes of Neurosis, Godflesh, Isis, and Killing Joke. Even before an official release, Beak has provided direct support for Killing Joke, as well as sharing the stage with Pentagram, Anvil, Weedeater, Mouth of the Architect, and more.

"Their names were Podagros (the fast), Lampon (the shining), Xanthos (the pale) and Deinos (the terrible). They were kept tethered to a bronze manger because they were wild; their madness being attributed to an unnatural diet of human flesh. They expelled fire when they breathed, they were man-eating, magnificent, wild, and uncontrollable."

In the beginning the punk was void and without form. And Hilly said, "Let there be CBGB's. " This is music that isn't preoccupied with the punk rock sorting hat. Reptoids have more passion and direction than technical ability, which is precisely why punks created this whole pastime in the first place - to rail against Guitar Institute Of Technology gits. All you have to do is have a good musical or lyrical idea (which they've got both) and bring it to life. That's not to say that they aren't decent musicians, they just avoid showboating and appear on the same page. --Hybrid Music

Eva Von Braun is a quasi-experimental, sonically aggressive band with influences varying from metal, noise rock, prog, and jazz—nothing is excluded, everything is permitted. EVB was formed as a speed-infused reaction against the overpopulation of tedious mid-tempo metal bands in the Chicago scene. Features members of Spanyurd and Creepy Band.
