The DownBeat Keys are the most outrageous, high-energy, straight-out-the-box-and-in-your-face live band hip-hop group in New York City.  Still in their early 20s, DBK has already recorded three albums and developed a one-of-a-kind sound.  Their music combines the fiery rhymes and soaring melodies of rapper/singer Kadahj with the deep grooves of a band inspired by funk, rock, and soul of the ‘70s.  The result is an incredible energy the world has long awaited from rap vocals with live band instrumentals.  Using their Brooklyn studio as home base, the DownBeat Keys have already reached impressive heights for a band so young, including opening for nationally established acts such as Talib Kweli, Outasight, Matt and Kim, and Soulive.  Recently, they also gained the endorsement of songwriting heavyweight Jeff Franzel, who co-wrote two songs on their latest album, Summer On Saturn.  With new shows, videos, and an EP planned for the summer, DBK is showing no signs of slowing down.  When the dust settles and live band hip-hop emerges as the “next big thing” in music, look for the DownBeat Keys to be crowned kings of the new genre.
