Chicago staples DISAPPEARS are returning to play the Empty Bottle on September 20th, this time celebrating the release of their fourth album, Era, which will be officially released on August 27th via Kranky RecordsAptly named, the new record marks a brilliant new progression of their minimalist sound, in what promises to be their most unique and chilling release to date. After five years as a band, the group is at their most raw, reflective, and powerful. Era is described as being "abrasive, contemplative, and paranoid - it's the sound of the void looking back." We’ve long been a fan of DISAPPEARS’ crunchy, propulsive, and atmospheric wall of sound and know how perfectly engaging they are live. Joining DISAPPEARS for a handful of co-headlining dates in the fall, including this show, will be post-punk noise rockers WEEKEND, who despite their relatively recent formation in 2009 have toured internationally and made the ‘big move’ from San Francisco to Brooklyn in order to refocus their creative consciousness. Time Out New York depicts their first album, Sports, as ringing with "a sinister, mysterious edge in debt to JOY DIVISION". Their highly-anticipated sophomore full-length Jinx will be unleashed on July 23rd, and when asked to describe the album in three adjectives, singer/guitarist Shaun Durkan replied, "Volatile. Cathartic. Bittersweet." With two fresh albums on the way from a pair of stellar bands, this will be a night brimming with neoteric energy and electricity. OUTSIDE WORLD, the not-so-new project from BRAIN IDEA’s BEN SCOTT opens the night. Rather than building on the technical, heady sounds of his other outfit, OUTSIDE WORLD has some warm, feel-good jams up for preview on their Bandcamp page, so check em out before you come get down and dirty with us all night.
