Arum Rae, formerly know as White Dress, is a modern day siren. Industry standards cannot harness Arum's sonic expression into a singular genre. Her ability to transcend styles allows the music to complement country, resurrect the soul, feel the blues, and ruin then reinvent rock, through her deeply rooted foundation as a singer-songwriter. As she plays, the room falls silent except for her sultry voice and electric guitar. While comparisons to PJ Harvey and Patti Smith may abound, Arum Rae accomplishes a wider range of sound and feel with a minimal cast of musicians, a drummer and bassist, but often playing alone. Less is more with Rae.
Arum Rae has worked with everyone from The Black Keys, Peter Bjorn & John, Gary Clark Jr., and The Civil Wars, but she is now primed to take command of her own destiny. Having co-wrote the song “If I Didn’t Know Better,” with John Paul White, of The Civil Wars, that got picked up by the ABC TV Show “Nashville” and quickly climbed the Country charts, Arum continues to follow her passion. Most recently, Arum Rae opened for Willie Nelson at his New Years Eve show at ACL Live At The Moody Theater. As Sean Moeller from Daytrotter Live so succinctly states about Arum Rae, “this is the scene of the mental bloodbath. She wins. Rae sings, "He doesn't want me/He's just in it for the kill," cutting a line that smokes out of the speaker, along with the kind of kick ass garage-rock blues that Jack White would drop a jaw around."
