REDD KROSS is returning to the Empty Bottle! After a blistering, balls-to-the-wall set at last year's HoZac Blackout Festival that had the kids (and dads) going nuts in the pit, we're stoked to welcome these ground-breaking rock'n'roll hooligans back to our stage. Stitching together shards of raging hardcore with pieces of leftover glam infection and delivered with the grace of a drunken chainsaw juggler, REDD KROSS might not be often mentioned in the central spotlight in the early story of LA punk, but their trailblazing is undeniable. The band released Researching the Blues on Merge last year, their first record in 15 years, and to our delight, the boys-now-men picked up right where they left off, sounding as tight and energetic as they did in their heyday. It’s no doubt in our minds that 2012 was the year of OUTER MINDS in Chicago, and we’re damn excited to welcome them back to play our stage again. The gruesome five-some spent last year criss-crossing the states, playing festivals like Pitchfork, and generally stirring up a ruckus whenever they hit the stage with their take on garage rock's first wave filtered through enough dreamy reverb to send you into a psychedelic stupor. Last year they released two albums, a self-titled gritty, pop slam-dunk on Southpaw and a heavier, darker beast on FDH/Resurrection, each of which you should shoot into your earholes before seeing em open for muthafuckin' REDD KROSS. New outfit CIRCLES return to the Bottle tonight and they've already picked up some solid press clips: The Detroit Daily Press calls the quartet “pop music for educated, upper-middle class, pretentious white people” while The Pittsburgh Three River Times calls a CIRCLES live performance "akin to the long awaited sequel, Goonies II, with the treasure chest full of pills instead of gold." Hey now! Featuring members of RADAR EYES, FOOTBALL and FRANCE HAS THE BOMB, they create a decidedly melodic garagey racket that tingles our dingles in all the right places.
