Additional Information

Alex Battles & The Whisky Rebellion

Alex Battles is a songwriter. His compositions range from country weepers to folk ballads and rock stompers. He sings and plays the songs with his band The Whisky Rebellion. The Whisky Rebellion contains six members, including Battles, dedicated to making a roof-shaking joyful hodgepodge of honky-tonk, jump blues, and rock ‘n’ roll.

Time Out NY has describted Alex’s music as “a sly, catchy mix of old-fashioned country songs”. The Village Voice has said of his performances: “Clad in a trucker’s hat, brandishing a legal pad of just-finished lyrics, and sporting a drawling, lazy voice, Battles can wrap audiences around his knotty fingers.”

Tatters and Rags

Tatters & Rags have been playing since 2008, at times being a drone post-punk folk band, other times being a sweaty, whiskey-fueled electric honky-tonk band. Fans of the band state that their eclecticism is part of their charm, and it's always accompanied by a frenetic energy that makes them one of the most exciting live bands in New York City.

Karen & The Sorrows

Alt-country band Karen & the Sorrows play “soaring tributes to lost love and...gentle and charming ballads” (Neville Elder, No Depression). Their recently released debut EP Ocean-Born Mary is a four-part ghost story of “allusive, attractive but distantly menacing songs... Country keeps evolving, and Karen & the Sorrows are taking it to a place it’s never been before, a good and creepy one.” (New York Music Daily) They also co-produce the Gay Ole Opry—Brooklyn's first ever queer country music festival—and host Branded Saloon’s Queer Country Monthly. If there's a tear in your beer, Karen & the Sorrows is the band for you.
