Additional Information

Union Street Preservation Society

Union Street Preservation Society is the complete roots string band experience -- runaway train instrumentals and smokey down-home harmonies packed into an inspired blend of original music that you could swear you've heard before. Influenced by folk revivalists, bluegrass pickers, country swingers, blues crooners and pre-war jazz, USPS gives you a taste of early phonographs served in tight arrangements of contemporary songs.

Thump and swagger of outlaw country throttled by the unhinged energy of a 90 mph freight train. Your ears will convince you 4 players are producing such a big sound until your eyes reveal it's just 2 men. Working hard.  With one foot planted in tradition and the other in an uncharted territory of American roots music.

The BYB's were formed by what some would call random circumstance, mere chance...we call it destiny! Jamey Hamm (aka "Big Ham") moved to Brooklyn, NY from a small town in Alabama. He met a certain Ryan Lamm (aka "little Lam") cooking up some hot licks on his trusty guitar & said to him, "we must form an alliance!" Things were great, but they both knew something was missing...enter, Sam Hawkins (aka "baby bird"). Big Hamm was strolling through the subway in the super hip west village when he heard some familiar & pleasing sounds filling his head. He turned the corner to see a strapping young fellow performing Bob Dylan in a very worthy manner, harmonica & all. After tipping the young lad he got his name & info & invited him to join the alliance. One week later the three united to form the barnyard brothers. May what you hear be as pleasing to your ears as the sound of June bugs & bullfrogs on a hot summers night.

Seth Kessel and the Two Cent Band is a musical project that focuses on new compositions and a shared love of early jazz and American roots music. Seth Kessel was a founding member of Izzy and the Catastrophics (ex-Izzy and the Kesstronics) and a multidimensional interpreter of Americana from rockabilly, jazz to old-time ballads. He has spent years on the road performing internationally and has shared the stage with the likes of Rancid, Snoop Dogg, Sublime and Rev. Horton heat to name a few.
