These bands will be playing "weird sets for the hometown weirdos." It won't be your standard Tortoise or Sea and Cake show. Prepare accordingly. Complimentary beverages from Goose Island and Virtue Cider between 8pm and 9pm.

Chicago mainstays TORTOISE come out their shells for this very special performance to celebrate two-decade love affair with Thrill Jockey. Twenty years after its founding, the band's signature and singularly inimitable sound-a fluid intersection of dub, dance, jazz, techno, rock and classical minimalism, with no part overwhelming or dominating the whole remains an American and international original. Calling the ensemble prolific is an understatement - continually forging new sonic territory, the revered quintet have been at the forefront of musical innovation since the early 90s, and they are widely thought of as one of the most dynamic and enduring ensembles to have emerged in the Chicago rock landscape. Sharing TORTOISE drummer JOHN MCENTIRE, influential indie rock band THE SEA & CAKE has been a point of pride for Chicago for over twenty years now. Their light, jazz-influenced pop rock has marked them as a band that, according to The Onion, "loves its formula enough to tease it." Their latest efforts have the core elements of the utterly unique SEA & CAKE sound, while introducing a more experimental approach to the song's textures and structures and we can't wait to see how the album translates to the stage. JOHN COLPITS (aka KID MILLIONS) is a Brooklyn-based multi-instrumentalist, composer and writer who is perhaps best known as the drummer for ONEIDA. MAN FOREVER, his vehicle for exploring the outer limits of drum performance, was created to overwhelm, to investigate the nuances that bloom in the midst of repetitive music, and to act as a pure sound experience.
