    Zusha

    Jewish Folk

Zusha was formed in the East Village of New York City, by three neo-Hasidic friends without excitement for college and a great passion for music. Borrowing lines from ancient liturgy, Zusha’s music is a blend of folk, jazz, reggae, ska, gypsy swing, and traditional Jewish soul. The result is a dynamic sound that is at times raw & rustic and at times gentle & poignant, while at other times you just can’t help but get up and dance.  They have been crafting musical explorations in New York City for a few years now, creating mystical musical harmonies in holy friends' homes.

Zusha's self-titled debut EP, on which the Huffington Post wrote that the "raw emotion is palpable," is filled with melodies that heal and harmonies that inspire, was self-released October 28th—just two days after a sold-out release show at the Lower East Side's Mercury Lounge, with lines down the block.  Getting cozy in Mason Jar Music's Brooklyn basement, with some glorious guests, the trio rose to a fuller sound while keeping their layered harmonies and Shlomo Gaisin's vocal soloing, which Tablet Magazine called "crescendos of musical mastery and nuanced arpeggios of exploratory, religious incantation," at the core.  With the tracking finished the band headed on tour in Israel, which brought them to the internationally acclaimed Safed Klezmer Festival, before returning to New York to release Zusha and perform in New York and the Northeast through the Winter.

    Wild Leaves

    Indie Rock

Wild Leaves are five friends who moved from the midwest to Brooklyn together. That distance is reflected in their songs. Their sound is something nostalgic, something with history–like a record rediscovered in your attic. The soaring harmonies, assertive rhythm section, and shimmering electric guitars have drawn comparisons to the west coast sounds of The Byrds, CSNY, & Jefferson Airplane. Yet, there is something still distinctly relevant to today–like the sound of a memory not yet lost.
