Zigaboo Modeliste’s Funk Revue is a musical concept, born in 1998 as a late-night show. Set in the Dream Palace, New Orleans, it was the only show of it’s kind at the time -- branded as “the 4:20 am show” between music-filled days at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.  Some of the current band members have graced the Funk Revue stage for the past 20 years.

“We actually started the show at 4:20 am and went on until after sunrise,” says Modeliste. “I would say we were the pioneers of the late-night scene,” which, by the way, is now pretty much every night during the annual 10-day run of Jazz Fest.

In 2004 by popular demand, Zigaboo’s Funk Revue moved to the Sunday-night time slot after the close of Jazz Fest. It was not uncommon for the loyal funksters to wear their brand-new Zigaboo T-shirts as they left the show and headed for their flights home from New Orleans.

With his unique talent, charm and humor, Modeliste hosts both club shows and private parties alike from his seat behind the drums, with the drums placed front of stage, rather than a more traditional back-of-band position.

The current Funk Revue includes a handpicked lineup of mostly music educators by day, who cover Modeliste’s solo catalog, released on his JZM Records label, and his favorite Meters’ songs. Band members include: Chris Severin – Bass, Chris Rossbach- Guitar,  Kurt Brunus - Keys ,Tracy Griffen – Trumpet, Robert Paulin – Sax

Past special guests appearing with Zigaboo’s Funk Revue  include Terrance Blanchard, Cyril Neville, George Porter, Jr., Ivan Neville, John Gros and Camile Baudoin, as well as members Los Lobos, Lettuce and Living Color.

A well-known fan of Zigaboo’s Funk Revue is British producer and DJ Mark Ronson, who calls Zigaboo his funk “muse.” Zigaboo and members of the Funk Revue were invited by Ronson to perform not only at his wedding reception, but also at his next-day wedding after party!

As they say in New Orleans, Hey Las Bas, Come as you are and Be Prepared To Dance!
