A singer/songwriter who's sound is influenced by pop and soul. A direct songwriter and powerful singer creates an immediate response to the listener.

The son of evangelical missionaries, Luke Abbott was born a drifter moving around the world, from California to Japan,  finally settling in western Washington. His life was the Baptist church; following in the footsteps of other Christian singer-songwriters like David Bazan, Abbott attended Northwest University, a Christian liberal arts college in Seattle where he studied music.   It was in college that his religious commitment started to waver, following a series of faith-shattering events like the divorce of his parents and witnessing religious hypocrisy up close as he rose through the ranks as a music pastor.   Abbott eventually traded his faith community and all his possessions for a fishing boat in Alaska after the loss of his mother. It was here The Drifter Luke truly stepped into his songwriting, in the solitude of the Chatham Strait. 

Happy Heartbreak is 5-piece alternative / emo pop band that is built around reflective lyrics, bouncy guitars and moving cello. The band is known for playing "happy sounding sad songs" and the emotive energy and performance of their live show.
