Yoko & the Oh No's are friends from Chicago: Max Goldstein on vocals, Max Loebman on guitar, Stef Roti on drums, and Joey Lucente on bass, a raging crew seemingly fueled by Taco Bell, rock & roll myths, and pilfered booze. They create a Rock n Roll/Soul sound that is raw, intricate, and fucking fine.

Yoko & the Oh No's S/T album is their first for Autumn Tone Records.

    Yoko And The Oh No's

    Rock

Yoko & the Oh No’s are three friends from Chicago: Max Goldstein on vocals, Max Loebman on guitar, and Stef Roti on drums, a raging trio seemingly fueled by Taco Bell, rock & roll myths, and pilfered booze.

It doesn’t quite jive how a group this young managed to tap into a vibe this classic. At just 16, Max L. produced and recorded the band’s self-titled full-length debut in his parents’ basement. The album is crammed with classic rock riffs, swinging beats, and up front, the sassy, done-up style of Max G. emoting loosely and widly like a young David Johanson, possessing a crooner’s voice and a taste for style. Dolled up in flashy get-ups, Max G.’s voice is a growly, beefy thing, a rangy tenor that belies his taste for soul shouters. The prevailing mood in modern indie garage rock is one of stylistic indifference, but that’s not how Yoko & the Oh No’s come across; these kiddos don’t just care, they care a lot.

Listen to the crashing classic rock chorus of “Heart Attack,” the sneering “She Knows It,” and the distorted R&B groove of “Nobody Wants to Know.” “Talking over radio/on the moonlit drive/We listen to VU/Jane says close your eyes,” Max G. sings lovelorn until the brutal kiss-off: “Nobody wants to know if you’re telling lies, ‘cause I’m dead to you.” Max G. sells each lyric the way only a hopped up teen could, and Max L. and Stef crank out the jams behind him like Marc Bolan or the Spiders from Mars, with a barely contained energy and strutting attitude.

Yoko & the Oh No’s S/T album is their first for Autumn Tone Records, which has a knack for finding raw young bucks (turn up records by the Orwells, Twin Peaks, and Modern Vices as a testament). Yoko & the Oh No’s recently went on tour with likeminded rock & roll weirdos The Growlers, blowing minds and connecting with crowds across the Midwest.

    The Noise FM

    Indie Rock

The Noise FM plays melodic, beat-driven indie-rock. Sometimes the tunes get really loud with fuzzed out synthesizers and gnarly riffs. Other times, it gets quieter -- all grooves and sexy vibes. Regardless of the volume, people tend to dance.

    Alternative Rock

Spawning from Stephen Paul Smoker’s solo recordings, SMOKER is a 5piece psych outfit born inside the sweaty depths of Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood. Their debut EP "Violent Sun / Violent Fun" was released in 2010 followed by extensive touring that helped shaped the band’s personality and sound. Their first LP, "Ripe Fruit", was released in 2012 on clear vinyl from Kilo Records.

Following a successful Kickstarter campaign, SMOKER independently released their next record, STRANGE WAYS in Sept. 2013. One year later, we are BACK to new releases with a year-long project called MONCHU - which will see the release of 24 new recordings, 2 per month for 12 months. This project is being released for FREE download and streaming via our Bandcamp page and Soundcloud. So, Enjoy!

Back in Chicago after last year's sabatical in Knoxville, TN, we are excited to see what the future has in store. Stay tuned!

    Masses

    Pop Rock

Drawing on their devotion to 40 years of radio rock genres, and paying homage to propulsive punk and metal precursors, M A S S E S ties deep sonic roots together to form a strikingly singular sound. Instrumentally similar to a darkened Metric, and pushing danceable elements a la Coldplay, this band opens endless possibilities as to where each song might take the listener. Formed in Chicago in 2015, the M A S S E S five-piece features Mike Jansen on vocals, guitarists Markham Jenkins and Edgar Quintanilla, Jonathan Walker on bass, and drummer Jon Lewchenko. Within M A S S E S, members rest their main instruments to delve into a collection of sampled and synthesized elements, unleashing tracks that traverse decades of genre diversity, delivering something eerily familiar and completely new. It’s all there in the band’s first single “Going Under.” Written and recorded with LA-based Steven Solomon in the legendary David Hodges’ in-house studio, and accompanied by a Remii Huang-directed black-and-white video, “Going Under” issues a direct challenge to anyone even attempting to remain sitting still.
