Formed in Chicago in 2015 by Julien Ehrlich and Max Kakacek, the band has earned a devoted following for their soulful blend of tender melancholy and radiant warmth. Lucky Cloud is the songwriting project of Chet Zenor, a Chicago-based guitarist and composer. A prolific sideman, Zenor has toured extensively across North America, Europe, and Australia, performing and recording with artists including Whitney, Squirrel Flower, Hannah Frances, Case Oats, Spencer Tweedy, Minor Moon, Elizabeth Moen, and many others. He co-leads the avant-country instrumental trio Alta Vista with drummer Andy Danstrom and bassist Jakob Heinemann. Lucky Cloud’s debut LP Foreground, released in March 2025 via Ruination Record Co, turns the focus inward with vulnerable lyricism and knotty, idiosyncratic guitar work.
