TRISTON PALMA
Palma was born in 1962 and grew up in the Waltham Park area of Kingston, and decided from an early age that he wanted to be a singer. He began by singing to the accompaniment of Soul Syndicate guitarist Tony Chin. His first recording was "Love Is A Message" for producer Bunny Lee when he was eight years old, which was followed by "A-Class Girl" for the Black Solidarity label, which was co-run by Palma and Ossie Thomas.
Palma made a major breakthrough with his performance in 1979 at the General Penitentiary Memorial Concert for Claudie Massop, which also featured Bob Marley. At one point in the early 1980s, Palma had nine songs in Jamaica's Top 40.
CARLTON LIVINGSTON
Livingston's recording career began in 1978 with his first recording at Channel One recording studio. This was the album "The Tale of Two Cities". Livingston made his breakthrough in 1981 with his conscious roots reggae vocal and dub discomix, Trodding Through The Jungle recorded with Flabba Holt and the Roots Radics, then gaining further success with his 1984 hit 100 Weight of Collie Weed on Green Sleeves Records. He has recorded with producers including Sly & Robbie, Clive Jarrett and King Jamy to new a few in his long illustrious career. Carlton continues to travel the world performing and recording new music.
MARA SULU
Mara SuLu, a roots reggae performer from San Diego, has over 15 years of experience in the music industry, performing with renowned international artists such as Tristan Palma, Carlton Livingston, Warrior King, Don Carlos, and Sister Nancy. Her latest single, “Reach Dem,” released in Paris under Scooplight Records, has expanded her international presence. Known for her smooth tone, sweet melodies, and conscious lyrics, Mara SuLu blends lovers rock and sufferers' style while honoring the roots music that shaped her career.
REVIVAL BAND
Revival is a roots reggae band from South Bay San Diego, CA, blending deep Jamaican style with a more modern Roots Reggae style to create a sound that’s both timeless and fresh. Currently led by the soulful vocals of Mara Sulu, the band has been a staple of the San Diego reggae scene for over 18 years, making them one of the longest-running reggae acts in the city. Their music stays true to the heart of roots reggae while embracing the rhythms and melodies of their diverse influences.
KANAKAMON
Kanakamon, a roots reggae artist originating from the Hawaiian Islands, started his music career in 2008 forming Kapu System. Releasing 2 EPs in 2014 and 2015 and a few singles to follow. In 2018 Kanakmon started releasing singles on his own and with guest producers including SVS, Road To Walk and Foolish. Currently he is one of the founders of an ever-growing group named Ruff Neck Posse.
