During the 1960’s, Dr. Lonnie Smith contributed to a golden era of Jazz in New York City as a prominent Hammond B3 organ alchemist. A true virtuoso of his craft, he traversed genres and was revered as a mentor by many artists including George Benson, Lou Donaldson, Don Was, and Rudy Van Gelder. His music has been sampled in rap, dance and house grooves while being credited as a forefather of acid jazz.  He played regularly at Snug beginning in the 1990s, and as fate would have it, one of his last performances before his passing in 2021 was at Snug Harbor. In order to preserve the integrity, quiet and focus of our world class intimate concerts, only the charcuterie, cocktails and soft drinks are available for table service inside the Music Room. However, we encourage you to arrive at least 90 Minutes prior to your showtime in order to enjoy full, relaxing dinner service in the Dining Room right next door, before getting seated in the Music Room for your ticketed showtime.
