Description
Tribute to Chet Baker: Mike Lewis & Friends Mike Lewis & Friends pay tribute to the late, great Chet Baker and the blues.  Baker earned much attention and critical praise through the 1950s. With a following drawn by his Miles Davis-like style and by his resemblance to James Dean, Mr. Baker won jazz polls in Metronome and Down Beat magazines. Amongst Baker's earliest notable professional gigs were engagements with saxophonist Vido Musso's band, and also with tenor saxophonist Stan Getz, though he earned much more renown in 1952 when he was chosen by Charlie Parker to play with him for a series of West Coast engagements. He became an icon of the West Coast "cool school" of jazz, helped by his good looks and singing talent. One of Baker's 1956 recordings, released for the first time in its entirety in 1989 as The Route, with Art Pepper, helped further the West Coast jazz sound and became a staple of cool jazz. Mike Lewis has spent substantial time performing in Polynesia and the tri-state New York area, Mike Lewis has recently moved back to Hawaii after touring and recording with Buddy Rich, Sarah Vaughn, Sammy Davis, Wynton Marsalis, Sonny and Cher, Billy Joel, Natalie Cole, Rosemary Clooney, The Temptations, Tony Bennett, Gladys Knight, and Bruno Mars.  Seating is First Come, First Served $10 Food or Beverage Minimum Per Person Once Seated; Full Bar & Full Dinner Menu Available Kama'aina discounts available.
