Description
Lawrence Sieberth is a versatile New Orleans pianist, composer, and producer whose work spans jazz, classical, Afro-Cuban, and R&B styles. He has performed at major festivals and venues, collaborated with artists like Allen Toussaint and Jason Marsalis, and composed for film and television. As musical director for Germaine Bazzle and the Original Tuxedo Jazz Band, Sieberth remains a vital force in the city’s music scene. Tonight, Sieberth pays tribute to Charlie Gabriel. Reeds player Charlie Gabriel is a fourth generation musician from New Orleans who began playing professionally at age 11 with the Eureka Brass Band upon the urging of his father. The Gabriels moved to Detroit in the 1940s, where as a teen, Charlie was asked to join Lionel Hampton’s band, and by his 20s was leading the hard-bop and pre-Motown movement with best friend, trumpeter Marcus Belgrave.  Gabriel also performed in Aretha Franklin’s orchestra. 60 years later and upon his return to New Orleans, Preservation Hall invited Charlie to play where at 94 years young now,  he plays the Hall and enjoys collaborating with master pianist Lawrence Sieberth.  This performance features: Lawrence Sieberth - piano  Louis Ford - clarinet / saxophones  Mark Brooks - bass  Johnny Vidacovich - drums  Plus, a very special guest of honor is sitting in:  Charlie Gabriel - saxophone  Shows at 7:30pm & 9:30pm  Doors at 7:00pm & 9:00pm Restaurant is Open 5pm - 11pm for dinner before or after your showtime: Advance Ticket Holders can now automatically make dinner table reservations for the dining Room online via Opentable.com Advance Ticket-Holders can also make table reservations for dinner by forwarding your E-ticket confirmation with dinner request info to reservations@snugjazz.com after your tickets have been purchased online.
