*Happy Hour Concert Series* featuring Treme Brass Band The Treme Brass Band is a quintessential New Orleans brass ensemble celebrated for its vibrant, soulful performances that embody the spirit of the city. Formed in the early 1980s, the band hails from the historic Tremé neighborhood, a cradle of Black culture and musical innovation in New Orleans. Led by the late, legendary drummer Benny Jones Sr., the Treme Brass Band has been a cornerstone of the brass band tradition, blending jazz, blues, and funk with the infectious energy of second-line parades. Their sound captures the essence of the Crescent City's musical heritage, with influences spanning generations of New Orleans musicianship. Known for their spirited street performances and their role in funerals, weddings, and community events, the band plays an integral part in maintaining the city's cultural identity. Their repertoire includes classic tunes like “I’ll Fly Away” and “Gimme My Money Back,” showcasing their ability to balance joy and reverence. Over the decades, the Treme Brass Band has earned international acclaim, performing at festivals worldwide and featuring in documentaries that highlight the rich musical traditions of New Orleans. Despite changes in lineup and the passing of key members, the band remains a dynamic force in preserving and advancing the brass band legacy.
