When most kids are barely able to speak, little Margo Thunder was singing

to any song she heard on the radio.
Hailing from Boston, MA, one of nine children and raised by a single mom, Mother Margaret believed in her little girl so much so that she ‘tricked’ her into entering a talent contest when she was nine years old. After three wins, Margo qualified to perform at the world famous Apollo Theater in Harlem, New York. Margo won 1st place singing “Bridge Over Troubled Water” and was overwhelmed when her idol, the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin also performing on the show, personally gave her words of approval.
At the age of 13, Margo began her recording career with Capital Records as a solo artist working with Lambert & Potter who also produced the Four Tops and Tavares. Margo’s solo debut album, “Soul of a Woman” earned her two international hits, “Expressway To Your Heart” and “Soul of a Woman”, with then- unknown crooner Luther Vandross singing background on the album. While traveling from city to city Margo began to parlay her vocal talents into collaborations with legendary producers Gamble & Huff. Following the success of her solo album, Margo and her two high school friends formed the hit girl group trio ‘9.9’. The group scored a record deal with RCA Records after singer/ songwriter Richard ‘Dimples’ Fields discovered and produced a demo on them. ‘9.9’ released their first self-titled album which included two smash singles “All of Me for All of You” and “I Like The Way You Dance”. Both singles enjoyed a healthy run on the Billboard Charts as well as international chart success, including performing on American Bandstand, Solid Gold, Soul Train, BET, etc. The multi-talented Margo Thunder moved on from ‘9.9’ creating a new group, ‘Lady Soul’. This hot trio savored Margo another hit single, “If My Sister Is In Trouble” which graces the soundtrack of the Whoopi Goldberg blockbuster movie, “Sister Act”. Margo has shared the stage with such legends as Aretha Franklin, Patty Labelle, the Whispers, Peabo Bryson, Eric Benet, The BarKays, to name a few.
Margo Thunder’s latest recording, entitled, “R&B 101”....It’s back to the basics. This album highlights rhythm & blues with some gospel influences. “Mistreated” is a ‘sassy’ song, setting the stage for the ultimate comeback, featuring background vocals from her friends/former ‘9.9’ members, Wanda Perry & Leslie Jones. “Make Me Say Oooh” is a spin on the classic Aretha Franklin cut “(Giving Him) Something He Can Feel”. “One Of Nine” is an ode to her hero Mother Margaret who was able to hear the song that attests to the fact a single mother can raise nine healthy talented children in the ghetto, before recently passing. Not to mention the scandalous “Did You Wrong”. Margo wants R&B 101 to embody the true essence of rhythm-and-blues. Margo’s “Feel The
Fire” (Peabo Bryson remake) will set your soul on fire.
