    Miss Fairchild

    R&B

Boston’s R&B ensemble Miss Fairchild is joyfully committed to The Show; spectacle, musicianship, awe and entertainment. Performing in the grand tradition of the Motown/Stax innovators of the 60’s, and the glittery Pop-Funk icons of each succeeding decade, MF exists amongst a new tier of R&B showmanship. Channeling both the urban ferocity of The Dap Kings as well as the slick live acts of Justin Timberlake and Bruno Mars, they tilt their fedoras to the past, while dancing in tandem with the contemporary.

At the heart of any great show band is a charismatic frontman. Travis Richard (or "Daddy Wrall") leads Miss Fairchild with soulful voice and energetic step; a tribute to his tireless heroes, Prince and Michael Jackson. Growing up as the preacher's son in a small town, Richard discovered a yearning to command the stage. Now playing sold-out shows backed by an incredible rhythm section, smooth funk sax and the chemistry of a newly added hype-girl, Richard and his band embody a fully-realized childhood dream, howling and wailing their songs in a voice that's familiar, yet entirely their own.

Originally the brainchild of producer Sammy Bananas, arranger Schuyler Dunlap, and Richard himself, in the role of "song and dance man", it's Miss Fairchild - the band - that has taken on a role greater than the sum of it’s parts for MF's new LP release, Show Band. Touring you through bubbly sweet Blue Eyed Soul, early 80's inspired dance anthems, and stadium-sized funk interludes, the new record succeeds as a perfect bottling of their effervescent live show.

    Taylor Kelly

    Soul

Taylor Kelly was born and raised in the suburbs of Rochester, NY and currently resides in Boston, MA. She has a silky smooth yet powerful voice that blends jazz, soul, funk and truth. Her songwriting tells tales of triumph in hopes to inspire many to live, love and forgive. Also an active trumpet player, Taylor strives for an instrumental-vocal approach, a rhythmic phrasing and an improvisation that is reminiscent of many of her trumpet playing influences (Chet Baker, Roy Hargrove, and Louis Armstrong to name a few.) Her biggest vocal influences are Stevie Wonder and Erykah Badu as they possess what she believes to be the true essence of music; an impeccable sense of time and feel and a perfect balance of simplicity and complexity.

Taylor graduated from Berklee College of Music in May 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in Professional Music where she had diligently studied the vast realm that is music. She leads a 9-piece group that has shared the stage with Bahamadia and Georgia Anne Muldrow and has dropped two records, one of which was recently released on 17 March 2015 entitled "Change of the Weather", and the other in July of 2013 (www.taylorkelly.bandcamp.com). Besides her own group, she is also a member, both a trumpet player and vocalist, for the ever-so-eclectic Light Bright (www.facebook.com/lightbrighttheband) who has played with Coolio, and 18-piece big band Thinkin’ Big who has embarked on two East Coast tours and had the privilege of opening for Jerry Bergonzi and Garzone & the Fringe at The Lily Pad in Boston. Taylor is also the front woman (Queen Bey) of Jay-Z/Beyonce tribute band Hard Knock Live, who had the unbelievable privilege of opening up for Salt N Pepa at Boston's ThrowBBaQ at City Hall in July 2014.

Aside from performing, Taylor teaches voice, piano and trumpet lessons at Onset School of Music (www.onsetmusic.com) and InBloom Music (www.inbloommusic.org). She takes pride in teaching others and inspiring them to love music in the way she has learned to. "I believe the essence of music is self-expression and finding meaning in every word and/or note but I also realize the importance of music theory, reading abilities and ear training. I hope to combine the technical aspects of music as well as the expressive to make my students be the best musicians that they can be."
