    Celebrating 49 years, ‘Reggae Ambassadors’, THIRD WORLD is one of the longest-lived Reggae bands of all time, & one of Jamaica's most consistently popular crossover acts among international audiences. Mixing in elements of R&B, funk, pop, rock, dancehall & rap, Third World’s style has been described as "reggae-fusion". With 9 Grammy nominations and catalogue of charted smash hits spanning over four decades, sold-out tours, a vibrant and loyal fan base and inspirational messages, one may wonder, "Where did it all begin? What gives Third World the staying power so rare in the music industry?" Third World is more than just one of the top Reggae bands of all time, it is an institution that stands for producing & performing music that, while holding firm to the cultural & ancestral roots of its members, still pushes forward the cutting edge of music worldwide. TW has performed to thousands of music fans on 6 of the 7 continents:, TW toured & recorded with Bob Marley, Stevie Wonder, Santana, opened for the Jackson 5’s first concert in Jamaica, TW's hit songs have reached top 40 on the Billboard charts in the US, UK, Europe & Japan. In 1986, TW received the United Nations Peace Medal for their contribution of music & their lyrical prose. Third World's 22nd studio LP "More Work To Be Done" produced by Multi-Grammy winner, Damian “Jr Gong” Marley, the youngest son of the legendary Bob Marley was nominated for "Best Reggae Album" at the 2020 Grammy Awards.
  • DJ Amy Wachtel, The Night Nurse

    Contemporary Reggae

    Amy Wachtel, better known as the Night Nurse, lives in New York City and has been playing and promoting reggae music in the tri-state for the past four decades. Her radio show, “Rockers Arena” broadcasts monthly on the 4th Friday, 1-4pm ET on Community Radio Station WPKN-FM out of Bridgeport, CT and livestreams worldwide on WPKN.org. The show debuted in 1983 on WBAU-FM in Garden City, NY; in the 90’s it aired on WNWK-FM, and in the 21st century on Radio Lily. In 2018 she brought Rockers Arena to WFUV for a special Reggae Essentials edition of “The Whole Wild World” as she filled in for the vacationing Rita Houston.

    Over the decades she’s DJ’d live at NYC area clubs including The Ritz, SOBs, Roseland Ballroom, Brooklyn Made, SONY Hall and Central Park Summerstage.

    Respected and known in the world-wide reggae community, Amy was the founder and editor of CMJ’s Reggae Route section of the trade tip-sheet the New Music Report. She worked for various record companies including Island, Arista and BMG. She’s worked with many artists including Burning Spear, Steel Pulse and Aswad, and has written for publications including Billboard Magazine, Reggae Report, and The Reggae and African Beat.

    Reggae enthusiasts are encouraged to join her FB Group, “Rockers Arena with the Night Nurse” to chat and share about all things reggae. During her radio broadcast, folks chat live while the show’s on the air.
