Void Union’s 2011 record, “Higher Guns”started with a relatively humble idea in 2008; get 5 or 6 musicians in a mid-fi room to knock out some live instrumental ska, straight to tape. Call a few guest vocalists, and print the damned thing! That’s not what happened. The record took 3 years of bouncing between basements, lofts, world-class studios and family homes. But, the result was an eclectic party record that sounds absolutely killer. It is everything a traditional Jamaican music fan could want, with JUST enough quirk to keep non-purists intrigued. Also, the 2nd printing vinyl is red, which everybody knows is a fantastic color.
After VU printed the damned thing. They put it in their collective suitcase (after paying massive airline baggage fees), and brought it to Europe. They walked right through the little gate that says “nothing to declare” and played for considerably more people than they normally would. Those people told 2 people, who told 2 people…and then the band members had babies, so they really have no idea if that whole thing went anywhere. BUT, after taking some time to raise said babies in separate locales, the band was able to regroup in 2016 to play shows in New England and begin work on a new record. The concept: get 5 or 6 musicians in a mid-fi room to knock out some live instrumental ska, straight to tape. Call a few guest vocalists, and print the damned thing!

As products of the 90’s ska revival scene, The New Limits gathered in a garage attic in Boston with a clear objective; to play the music they love. They are well versed in the music’s rich history, from the rocksteady of the 60’s, to the 2-tone of the 80’s, and the “third wave” of bands they idolized as teenagers.
The New Limits bring a style of their own to the scene, having been influenced by their diverse tastes in music, as well as the experience they have gained over the years. With a fond appreciation for the past and a bright outlook on the future, The New Limits bring fans of all ages to the dance floor.
