The Soft White Sixties formed a few years ago when drummer Joey Bustos heard vocalist Octavio Genera singing at a house party in the Lower Haight. When Bustos called in his former bandmate Ryan Noble to fill in on bass (where he stayed), they soon recruited multi-intrumentalist Aaron Eisenberg to double on guitar & keys, and Midwest-born songwriter-performer Joshua Cook on guitar, and the sound was born: hard R&B grooves with psychotic guitars, plaintive keys, and tasteful vocal harmoinies accentuating Octavio’s original, soulful melodies atop the powerhouse rock ‘n’ roll beat.

    The Young Things

    Alternative Rock

From NYC’s reemerging indie rock scene explodes The Young Things, a retro-rockin’, good-times band that’s been packing pubs and clubs alike on the strength of their new EP and a solid reputation in the Big Apple.

After months of being in the recording studio, and redefining the band’s brand and image on a planned hiatus, The Young Things have been injected with new life, now collaborating more fully in the song-crafting process and creating a sound that can only be described as West meets East. Which makes perfect sense, as the native NY band’s founding members met while on the cobbled streets of London, and forged a friendship that united their love for good music with their passion for fun.

The band has paid its dues onstage at such legendary haunts as CBGB’s, The Knitting Factory, Bowery Electric, Pianos, and Mercury Lounge, and recently started buzzing about Brooklyn in local faves Spike Hill, Brooklyn Bowl and Cameo Gallery in the ultra-hip section of Williamsburg. Though their soaring guitars and vintage melodies hint at the lighter side of life, their pounding drums, dark lyrics and pure edge still scream with all the spit and grit of their hometown, New York City.
