Description
The SoapGirls are not just a band — they are a movement. Formed by sisters Noemie (guitar, vocals) and Camille Debray (bass, vocals), this genre-defying alternative rock duo have been inseparable personally and creatively since childhood.
Their music draws influences from Alice in Chains, Lamb of God and Nirvana, through to Fleetwood Mac, Blondie and classic rock and pop. It’s gritty and rocky, melodic and catchy, with vocals that range from sweet harmonies to raw growls.
The band has built a dedicated global following through relentless touring, high-energy performances and fan engagement over the past decade. Between shows, the band live streams on YouTube and Instagram up to three times a week to its dedicated community of fans, called ‘Soapsuds’.
The SoapGirls are a mainstay in the alternative press, with hundreds of features and reviews in major publications including Rolling Stone, Classic Rock, Daily Mail, Daily Express, Guitar World, Vive Le Rock, Bass Player, Louder Than War, Total Rock and Punk Globe. Their music has been broadcast on prominent radio stations including BBC Radio, Planet Rock, and RTE, while the band has also appeared on television in the UK and South Africa.
Their message is consistent and universal: be who you are, loudly and without shame.
The Story of The SoapGirls?
Their story is one of raw talent, persistent perseverance, and an unshakable sisterhood that has powered them from street performers in South Africa to internationally acclaimed headline acts on major stages around the world.
Noemie and Camille became an international attraction as street performers singing and selling homemade soaps to locals and tourists in Cape Town (South Africa) to raise funds for neonatal wards – earning them the name The SoapGirls.
This led to them being spotted and signed by Universal Music. The SoapGirls released their first album Xperience in 2011, reaching number one on the South African album charts and releasing four hit singles, before leaving the label to retain greater artistic control. The SoapGirls are proudly independent since 2015.
The SoapGirls remind us that music can still be straight to the point, honest and exciting.
