The Protomen
Hard Rock
The Protomen are more than just a super badass independent rock band from Nashville... they are messengers, riding atop an Iron Stallion (i.e., a mildly shitty tour bus) on their way to deliver the long-awaited final chapter of the most vicious rock ‘n’ roll fable that the world has ever known, Act III: This City Made Us.
Act I (The Protomen), is the first album of a sci-fi western trilogy fusing elements of Ennio Morricone, Queen, and Black Sabbath together to kick off a cinematic listening experience unlike anything you’ve ever heard. If you’re afraid of sky cracking distortion and epic chaos, you won’t survive this album.
Act II: The Father of Death is a prequel, focusing on the moment when “the world fell under darkness.” Split into two separate eras (and sounds), it gives the feeling of two distinct albums in one. This one is a lot more Morricone on the front and a lot more Springsteen on the back. Like a rad Rock and Roll mullet. Act II was co-produced by The Protomen and Alan Shacklock (Meatloaf, The Alarm, Bonnie Tyler, Babe Ruth, Roger Daltry). Both albums are accompanied by their respective librettos to enhance the shit out of the experience.
On the road, The Protomen are a force to be reckoned with. Their epic live telling of their original story intertwined with their own take on classic rock/soundtrack jams (including an album of their favorites - The Cover Up) has gotten them handpicked to perform at festivals like Bonnaroo and Tenacious D’s Festival Supreme, featured in TV shows like Cobra Kai and Hysteria!, as well as commercials and video games. They’ve spent years building a large and fiercely devoted fan base by headlining tours across the US and choice parts of Canada, Europe, and Australia. The Protomen have kicked ass everywhere from the seediest of dives to the fanciest of festivals.
Cut to now, The Protomen have just released their more-epic-than-epic new album, Act III: This City Made Us, co-produced with David Kalmusky (Journey, John Oates, and The Protomen’s long-time arch-rival, Carrie Underwood) of Addiction Studios in Nashville, and are in the process of unleashing that unstoppable beast upon the world. Meanwhile, The Protomen are preparing for their hometown Act III release experience at Marathon Music Works, a three day event where they play all three acts, June 18-20. Don’t miss this.
