You can't have rock without the roll...or is it roll without the rock? Who knows, the point is The Paragraphs have been rolling out their own version of rock since 2009, and with plenty of sass to boot. From the sludge of "Old Shoes" off 2009's debut "Gallows EP" to the heart of "There Is Nothing You Can Do" from 2012's critically acclaimed "+/-" album, The Paragraphs deliver unpretentious music with no room to pigeonhole their sound. Their latest album "It's Always Never" is up for Best Rock Album at the 2018 San Diego Music Awards.

Drug Hunt
Alternative Rock
Drug Hunt, a bizarre quintet of natural seditionists, adulterate Psychedelia with the orphaned idealism of American Post-Punk and early British Hard Rock. Imagine a modern day Doors album produced by Steve Albini, written by Nick Cave, and fronted by The Stooges at a biker bar.

On the hunt for never ending synth sounds and lady harmonies, belladon has been a band for just over a year and has been embraced by the san diego community rather quickly. With only two singles out they have already been nominated for a san diego music award for best new artist. they were featured on “a red trolly show” (sponsored by karl strauss brewing co.) have had radio support from rock 105.3 for local spotlight and from 91x for their single releases. They recently were invited to 4th street recording (artist such as mick fleetwood, the beach boys, and alice cooper are past clientele) to record their next single, carnival. They have been a featured artist on Women Who Rock (ig: womenwhorock), and Treble Zine (www.treblezine.com), a musical blog based out of San Diego.
The founder of the project, Aimee Jacobs (former synth player and second vocalist of the Burning of Rome)started the group with Anastasya Korol at the San Diego Music and Art Cooperative, where they both work as music instructors. Both women sing lead and play synth, focusing on harmonies between the vocals and keys. Their listeners describe them as prog pop. It’s pop music but not conventional in it interpretation. Heather Nation is the bands lead guitar player and back up vocalist. The groups rhythm section is drummer Billy Petty and Alex Bravo on bass. All the players of the project are well seasoned performers and educators in the music community and it shows in their composition.. Belladon has been an active band since June of 2017 and has already been nominated for a San Diego Music Award for best new artist. They have received air time on the local radio stations such as 91X and were featured on rock 105.3 artist spotlight. They are unique for their interplaying synth melodies and 3 part female harmonies. Prince, Kate Bush, Siouxsie Sioux or Bjork would swim along Belladon’s sonic waters comfortably. But it’s Belladon’s ability to have multiple melodies interacting without losing focus, that sets them apart from 80's pop tracks. “HAISA” their previous release has sections where the two synths, guitar and vocalists have leading melodies creating a very exciting wall of sound.
Belladon is creating pop music for a more attentive listener than your average consumer. The balance between the male driven rhythm section, and the melodic feminine side of the members is captivating, dueling, and nuanced. The song structures are well executed and the performance quality is high. They offer an untapped personality in pop music comparatively to other bands out there now. Belladon’s small but growing catalog is uniquely beautiful and all their own.
