The Mountain Grass Unit

The Mountain Grass Unit consists of three Birmingham pickers, Drury Anderson (mandolin and vocals), Luke Black (acoustic guitar and banjo), and Sam Wilson (upright bass). The Mountain Grass Unit has played music festivals, private functions and multiple music venues, playing bluegrass tunes and adding a bluegrass touch to country, jazz, funk, rock, and even metal. With the addition of Luke Black and Sam Wilson on harmonies, The Mountain Grass Unit has established the firm foundation to take on not only the vocal harmonies of traditional bluegrass tunes, but also the freedom to adapt songs from various genres to an all-acoustic format. Aside from their original songs, all three are equally comfortable restyling a Tony Rice number, a classic Grateful Dead tune, or covering contemporary acoustic masters like Billy Strings. The youthful exuberance and energy they bring to the stage is always remarkable. Their competency at what they do was best described by Birmingham music promoter Steve Masterson when the boys performed at his Acoustic Café festival: "They don't just play good for their age, they play good. Period." Sam, Luke, and Drury are excited to share with their audiences this new and exciting musical chapter.

Eugene Tyler Band

Eugene Tyler Band are just three mama’s boys with anxiety problems trying to find catharsis in high-energy, irreverent songs. Eugene Gardner (vocals/guitar/mandolin), Daniel Tyler (guitar/banjo), and Marc Jaffee (upright bass/vocals) all grew up within a couple of miles of each other in downstate New York, and since 2015 they’ve been on the road, performing at landmark clubs like Sony Hall and the Mercury Lounge and bluegrass festivals like Podunk Bluegrass and Thomas Point Beach. 2022 saw the band selling out shows across the northeast and opening up for national acts like the Kitchen Dwellers.

Their latest album, “Thanks Cats”, was released in 2021. “It’s the most honest record we’ve ever made,” says singer/songwriter Eugene Gardner. “Most of our time is spent on the road, drinking in the sun and making music with friends, some new and some we’ve known forever. We’ve made a lot of memories at those shows and hopefully these songs make people feel like they’re right there with us.”

    AMERICANA NORTHWEST OF NYC

As much musical brothers as bandmates, Eugene Gardner and Daniel Tyler have been collaborating for over a decade, since their early teens.  The duo’s distinct style of Americana songwriting and performance drew the attention of Marc Jaffee, who committed to them as producer, manager, and record label, culminating in the release of the group’s debut album, Eugene Tyler Band.

They then hit the road as an acoustic duo to support the album, bringing powerful performances to a variety of music venues around the northeast, such as B.B. King’s Blues Club, Rockwood Music Hall and Nectar’s Lounge.  Eugene Tyler Band is presently bringing their classic songwriting and guitar interplay to both new and established audiences, in the hopes of giving everyone who sees them a show to remember, and a song worth singing.
