The Mermaid Comedy Hour ft. Valerie Tosi, Kari Assad, Jessica Keenan, Mary Huth, Zahra Ali, Felicia Michaels, Aisha Alfa, and Francesca Fiorentini!
-
Valerie Tosi is a Second City trained actor, writer, voiceover artist, and standup comedian. Before the world fell apart, she made her late night debut on Conan, and as an actor, she's appeared in a viral commercial for Lyft with Kevin Hart and Ice Cube, was featured on 'The Joel McHale Show' on Netflix, 'Based On A True Story' on Peacock, and was a guest star on 'Stan Against Evil' on IFC. You may recognize Valerie's voice from her work on scripted podcasts, animation projects, and several ad campaigns, including Google Home Mini. As a standup, she tours the US regularly, bringing her delightfully relatable stories to clubs like The Improv and The Comedy Store, and several festivals like Limestone and Laughing Skull. Between road dates, Valerie produces and hosts The Mermaid Comedy Hour, the longest-running all-female comedy show at The Hollywood Improv. She regularly features for Emmy Award-winning comedian Dana Gould and her debut comedy album "Beach Trash" debuted at #1 on the iTunes charts. When she's not slinging jokes, you can find her at her pinball league pumping quarters into the Jurassic Park table while quoting Dennis Nedry.
-
Kari Assad is a Mexican-Lebanese comedian and writer based in Los Angeles. Her silly and relatable content has been featured on the popular comedy platform WhoHaha, and she's also been a featured performer at premium festivals like Limestone and 10,000 Laughs. Kari also hosts the hilarious podcast 'Kari Assad: Ghost Detective,' where she breaks down real-life ghosting stories with guests to determine what really happened. When she's not on stage, you can find her borderline making out with your dog.
-
Jessica Keenan is a Mexican/Lebanese comedian who was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. She has appeared on HBO Max’s Ha Festival: The Art of Comedy, and was also a finalist for Standup NBC. In 2021, her first special was released on HBO Max: What She Said! Jessica made her Late Night debut on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon in August 2024.
-
Mary Huth is an Asian, lesbian empty-nester, born in Japan and based in Los Angeles. Mary misguidedly stepped away from a career in publishing with the Wall Street Journal to raise twin boys. She delivers perspectives on favorite topics, including politics, parenting, relationships, LGBTQ issues, diversity, and pop culture. She was recently featured at the Asian Comedy Fest in New York and will be at the Boulder Comedy Festival in Colorado in June.
-
Zahra Ali is a comedian, writer, actress, and all-around cool person. She performs stand-up comedy all over the world and was featured in the Best of Roast Battle at The World Famous Comedy Store. You can watch her on the upcoming season of Flores and Friends on Amazon, and award winning short films like The Book of Game and Michael Peterson on YouTube. She is one of the producers of Facial Recognition Comedy.
-
Felicia Michaels is a highly imaginative storyteller—whether writing, producing, or directing award-winning short and documentary films, aiming a camera at other creatives on television and film sets, podcasting, or sharing the stage with the most visible stand-ups in American comedy. Felicia started her comedy career by winning Funniest Female on Star Search and The American Comedy Awards. Her comedy has been seen on numerous networks and streaming services. Post-pandemic, Felicia was featured in the Showtime Documentary series (3 out of five episodes) that chronicled the evolution of comedy within the walls of the iconic Comedy Store, co-starred in the film Halfway to Amarillo, was a camera operator on three feature documentaries (two for HBO and PBS), filmed her second comedy special, and wrote a comedy pilot for Prodigy films.
-
Aisha Alfa is a comedian, actor, writer, and host who performs on stages all over the world. You may recognize her as Carolyn on Peacock’s “Based On A True Story” or Ms Grell from the Degrassi franchise. As a Mama of two, she’s very excited to be here with you all…mostly cause her kids aren’t here.
-
Francesca Fiorentini is a comedian, correspondent, and host of The Bitchuation Room Podcast. You've seen her on MSNBC, Zeteo, TYT, and formerly as host of Newsbroke on AJ+.
