The Joshua Smith - Keigo Hirakawa Quartet  Keigo Hirakawa Piano Joshua Smith Saxophone Aiden Plank Bass Jeff Mellott Drums Cleveland native and New Orleans based Saxophonist Joshua Smith, along with Dayton based pianist Keigo Hirakawa will co-lead this powerhouse quartet, delving into material that is both beautiful and challenging in a set of original modern jazz written by the two bandleaders.  The Joshua Smith - Keigo Hirakawa Quartet performs their unique brand of modern jazz with a strong sense of telepathy, and a voracious appetite for melodic interplay, while exploring the depths, improvising over their unique jazz forms.  Having grown up playing jazz together as teenagers in Cleveland, Ohio, Keigo and Joshua share a deep and long-running musical bond. Over the past 30 years they have played many gigs, cutting their teeth on jazz standards and the Great American Songbook, and eventually branching out into all forms of original modern jazz and improvisation. This breadth of musical experience comes through their music.
