A fixture of the New Orleans music scene for over three decades, The Iguanas are a roots rock band whose sound is an infectious and danceable mix of The Americas’ musical heritage – Tejano and Conjunto sounds from the Tex/Mex border region, the American South’s Blues, Jazz and New Orleans R&B, spiced up with the fiery music from the Caribbean and Mexico.  Taking their cues from this gumbo of influences, The Iguanas redefine the notion of “Americana,” blending cultures, styles, eras, and even languages.  It’s as if Rue Bourbon, Muscle Shoals, and Plaza de Mexico were all within earshot of each other, and The Iguanas were the musical conduit between them!  It is not surprising then that The Iguanas have (collectively or individually) played or recorded with a panoply of artists including Jimmy Buffet, Los Lobos, Alex Chilton, Dave Matthews Band, Allen Toussaint, The Avett Brothers, Dwight Yoakam, Charlie Rich, Texas Tornados, and Pretty Lights.  Their songs have been featured in many films and TV shows, including every season of the HBO series Treme’ that was set in New Orleans.  They are a staple of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, performing there annually for 35 years and counting!
