About the performance: The amazingly gifted Florida Grand Opera Studio Artists take pride in their command of the Grand Operatic Tradition as well as their mastery of the style and conventions of American Musical Theater.  When we see our finest opera companies offering spectacular productions of Showboat, Man of La Mancha, and A Little Night Music, the line of demarcation becomes surprisingly thin. This program will showcase committed performances of some of the most arrestingly beautiful moments from both of these traditions, and will illustrate that they have more in common than we sometimes realize.  We will do our best to ensure that you leave the Bienes Center for the Arts in a state of exhilaration, enriched by discovery, and very likely changed in some way – for the better.   About the Studio Artist Program: Founded in 1984, Florida Grand Opera’s Studio Artist Program has gained worldwide recognition as one of the leading operatic Studio Artist's programs in the United States. Florida Grand Opera’s Studio Artists study with renowned artists and teachers from every aspect of the world of opera while gaining valuable performance experience.  The highly competitive program accepts 8-15 artists each year and has trained more than 180 young professionals who now appear on the stages of the nation’s leading operatic and theatrical organizations. During their residency, Studio Artists perform recitals and concerts for the community,  perhaps most importantly, they perform featured and supporting roles in Florida Grand Opera's main-stage performances as well as study appropriate leading roles in the season’s repertoire.Graduates of the program have returned in leading roles in FGO productions.
