    The Early Sixes

    Alternative Folk

The Early Sixes are an American acoustic driven folk-pop ensemble forged in the heart of Chicago.

The band was officially formed in late 2012, naturally evolving from friendships into musical partnerships in basements, apartments and bars across Chicagoland. The Early Sixes are Matt Charoenrath (vocals, guitar), Dan Zuba (guitar), Sam Zuba (bass, vocals), Nate Meyer (cello), Ben Peterson (piano, guitar) and Ben Zuba (percussion). With a stripped-down but high-energy acoustic sound, the band will often perform live with different variations of the core lineup.

The Early Sixes take a collaborative and hands-on approach to songwriting and recording, with every member contributing to the creative process. Tracks typically stem from a traditional singer-songwriter foundation, exploring a story or idea from a member that gets expanded through the lens of the group then developed into a layered composition influenced by each member’s diverse musical style and sensibilities.

Every track on the band’s upcoming album was entirely self-recorded in the basement home studio of a band member in the suburbs of Chicago, and was self-produced by the group. The Early Sixes' music represents the full lifecycle of the creative process, completing tracks by collaborating with engineers across the world to bring their vision to life.

    Dance Bullies

    Folk Rock

Midwest born and raised. Hailing from the cornfields of small-town USA, Dance Bullies first came to be in 2012. Colleen Harvey has been singing and writing songs her entire life. Some of her first memories are of lyrics floating through her head. Constantly accused of daydreaming, the more they came, the more she realized that she needed to get them out.

Along the way,  more wonderful additions have made their way into the lineup. Jeff Lyman (Joe Wortell and the Natural Law, Dead River Revival), a musical force to be reckoned with, rounds out their sound with everything from pedal steel to banjo. Mark Cichra (Ultura, Faces of the Bog) contributes lead and rhythm guitars (and other stringed goods - a true wizard!), while Dina Simone (Murder City Saints) keeps it all together on bass. Giovany Revelle completes the crew on drums and percussion.

Playing across the midwest, Dance Bullies have shared the stage with national acts such as Hurray for the Riff Raff and Fruition.

Along the way, more wonderful additions have made their way to the music. Justin Cape (Scientist, Taken by the Sun) joins on drums, Jeff Lyman (Dead Sheriff) and Mark Cichra (Taken by the Sun) add lead and rhythm guitars (and other stringed goods), and Dina Simone (The Sunbursts) keeps it all together on bass.

Playing across the Chicago area from Beat Kitchen and Tonic Room to Evanston’s SPACE, and opening for national acts such as Hurray for the Riff Raff, Dance Bullies goal is to supply you with music that makes your body move, your soul sing, and sounds that bring you to someplace magical, wherever that may.
