The REAL John King
If you are looking for a comedy show with energy, excitement, and a touch of music, you have come to the right spot. The Real John King is a comedy veteran who hails from the “Rubber Capital of the World”, Akron, Ohio. He started performing stand up in Birmingham, Alabama in 1984. Getting started during the height of the comedy boom put him in great demand, and he quickly brought his joke telling talents to venues all across the United States. His delivery is as smooth and polished as a precious gem. He has an inviting smile that instantly puts the audience at ease. He draws the crowd in with his situational and observational humor. John’s show is a comical conversation, not a lecture, allowing him to adjust on the fly as he reads the audience’s mood and reacts accordingly. His years of experience have earned him the unique ability to entertain any type of crowd, whether there are a dozen people in the audience or a thousand. He can work clean, dirty, or anything in between. He is a pro from beginning to end. John has had a career’s worth of comedy highlights. He has been seen on Showtime at the Apollo, BET’s “Comicview” and the Nashville Network. He has opened for some of the nation’s top entertainers, including Chris Rock, Redd Foxx, Steve Harvey, Tommy Davidson, Sheryl Underwood and the Temptations. He has been interviewed on hundreds of radio stations across the country and even performed at a blues festival in Wheeling, West Virginia. He has performed at some of the top clubs in the nation including Dangerfield’s in New York City, The Punchline in Atlanta, The Comedy Castle in Detroit, and even Jokers Wild in Nassau, Bahamas. He has also worked for some of the top comedy club chains, including Funny Bone, Improv and Comedy Zone franchises. As if that wasn’t enough, he also has hundreds of colleges, casino and corporate shows under his belt. When John is not performing comedy, he spends much of his time moonlighting in the music industry, as he is also a talented blues musician. Specifically, he plays the harmonica both solo and in the nationally acclaimed blues band Groove -Tube. In fact, John works the harmonica into his stand-up act, combining music with zany lyrics to create a show-stopping closing bit that brings the house down night after night. No comedian can guarantee a great show every time, but The Real John King comes close. He is a top-notch entertainer who never phones it in. Accept no substitute!
