Ladies Battle! is a dance battle hosted by the annual Ladies of Hip-Hop Festival (LofHHF). The mission of LofHHF is to develop and provide women and girls with positive roles that are present and represented within the hip-hop culture. Traditionally, men have dominated all facets of the hip-hop scene, but this festival changes that tradition and puts women center-stage for the entire event. Each year an elite group of female artists from around the world is selected to exhibit work, teach, and perform as part of the festival. Through education, performance, and community exchanges, this annual hip-hop festival focuses on women and their relationship with hip-hop culture.
For this year's LofHHF, dancers from Russia, Korea, Austria, Switzerland, and Japan will descend on New York to perform and battle for a full weekend of events. Ladies Battle features 1-on-1 popping, hip-hop, waacking, and house dancing – an international challenge where hip-hop culture's favorite dancers come and prove themselves. Tonight's event will begin with a preliminary round to uncover the top 16 dancers of the evening. Doors open and the DJs will play, spinning hip-hop, funk, house, soul, and classics. The winners will be awarded cash prizes, gift bags, and a year's worth of bragging rights – they can boast of themselves as being among the world's best female hip-hop dancers! The event is judged by a panel of elite dancers from around the world, like Tweetboogie, Linda LaNaija, Deidra "Danty" Braz, Princess Lockeroo, Marie Poppin, and more.
In partnership with Step Ya Game Up, Elite Force, Bobby Mileage, Brooklyn Bomber, and Tweetboogie, Ladies of Hip-Hop Festival is helping to re-establish the birthplace of hip-hop culture, New York City, as the global epicenter of the dance. The festival strengthens hip-hop dance's position as the latest American art form by producing high-quality, professionally planned events. Ultimately, the festival strives to reach many different cultures and communities by sharing its culture, knowledge, and love of the dance and music.
