Celtic Rock
Flatfoot 56
Flatfoot 56
Celtic Rock
Playing a positive-natured brand of hardcore-tinged Celtic punk, Flatfoot 56 has been unleashing itself upon America and the rest of the world for over 20 years now. Forming in 2000, the Chicago natives achieved nationwide attention with their first two label-backed records, 2006’s Knuckles Up and 2007’s Jungle of the Midwest Sea. These releases built on a heavy dose of previously established regional notoriety, helping the band gain steam early on.
While each record received its fair share of acclaim, the quintet exploded onto a new level with 2010’s Black Thorn. Landing the band on a total of 9 Billboard Charts, Flatfoot 56 proved it could consistently reach an expanding audience while treading in a genre not often associated with widespread success. This success was advanced even further with song placements in the hit TV series
"Sons of Anarchy" and the video game "Watchdogs".
After the success of "Blackthorn" Flatfoot hit the studio yet again in 2012 to record their Paper and plastic records backed "Toil" album. This album would further solidify the band as a consistent force to be reckoned with.
Flatfoot 56’s latest full-length album, entitled "Odd Boat", was produced by Matt Allison at Atlas studios in Chicago. “We decided that since the last experience at Atlas Studios was so beneficial, we wanted to repeat it,” Bawinkel said. “We have been friends with Matt for a few years now and we love the work that he and his studio engineers do.”
"Odd Boat" was a self-released album. “We have been working with labels so long that we decided that we wanted to have more of a say in how our music gets distributed and promoted. We are excited about this next season,” Bawinkel said. “As a band we have all grown a lot over the years and we wanted to stretch ourselves even further. Self release is a good way to do this."
In 2018, Flatfoot 56 released the E.P. "The Vancouver Sessions". In this E.P., they restyled and recorded original songs from multiple albums acoustically. Some fans prefer these acoustic versions over their original versions as they highlight and emphasize the great storytelling element of these ballads.
In 2022, Flatfoot 56 released their first Split E.P. They joined forces with the amazing band,The Rumjacks, and each released three new and original songs. They are available on vinyl, for digital download, and playing on Spotify and other streaming services.
Frontman Tobin Bawinkel (vocals/guitar) is now set to lead Flatfoot 56 back into the studio. Armed with his brother Kyle (bass), along with their original piper Josh Robieson (bagpipes/mandolin), and Dan Alfonsi (Drums), Flatfoot 56 is in the process of writing their 8th full-length studio album.

We've been playing music and touring all over the world for almost 30 years now. We released a few records for Lookout! Records in the early 90s and then had a terrible stint with Hopeless in the late 90s. I don't think they wanna see us and we definitely don't wanna see them. Then we released one more record with Lookout! but afterwards switched to our favorite record label we've ever had, Asian Man Records. All this while touring a bunch. We'll see you soon, we're The Queers.

SACK is an enigmatic group of Denver ass-kickers that (as far as we can tell) is Kody Lillington and some shredders from Peru. There's been band members named Squiggy, Skeeter, Joe Camel, Coach, and Rad Biker. No one knows what's *actually* going on with these party punks, but SACK claims their new record is called "Ripper!" and it'll be out this Summer on Red Scare.

The Raging Nathans are back with a brand new LP less than a year after their last full length album. Their new LP "Waste My Heart" steps it up in every way. "Waste My Heart" is their 4th studio album and it sees a major development in the bands songwriting. The ability to write 1 minute and 30 second punk rock rippers with anthemic choruses is now highlighted by their penchant for writing slightly more complex songs that blend intricate guitar work with the honest and introspective lyrics New themes collide with familiar ones including poverty, politics, love and hate. The drumming is tight, the bass is always in your face, the music is relatable, and clearly having a solid line up for several years has done the band good. The evolution of The Raging Nathans is on full display and their collaborative efforts really shine on “Waste My Heart”. This album proves their importance as a band to their peers and to themselves every step of the way. They are prolific, unapologetic and “Waste My Heart” cements their legacy in stone as the worlds last great punk band. Every record they have released topped the one before it and “Waste My Heart” is no exception. The record was recorded by Luke McNeil (The Copyrights, Hospital Job) and was mastered by Stephen Egerton (ALL, Descendents). FFO: early Propagandhi, Bad Religion, The Ramones

Flamingo Nosebleed started in late 2007-early 2008 after the breakups of other local fort wayne punk bands. Founded by Jake Emissions (vocals, guitar), Drew Snyder (bass), and Josh Peebles (Drums). They released S/T album in 2008 which was recorded by Emissions and Kevin Gaskill (bricktops). Shortly after Josh Peebles left and was replaced by Pete Dio. They dudes started to tour and play a lot more shows all over the Midwest and eastern u.s. Including a recording of 6 songs with Jim Tierney at Joe Queers studio in New Hampshire. After a year, Pete and Drew left to pursue Petes band and Jake picked up Philthy Phill (bass), and Turbo (drums). Continuing to play more and more the guys played a ton of Midwest and east coast shows and recorded Headbanger Demos (very limited to 100 copies) which was handed out at some of the shows including insub fest in Baltimore. Wanting to tour more extensively, the guys moved on minus turbo and picked up mad mike in 2010. This has been the main lineup ever since. The guys recorded Headbanger and went on their first full U.S. tour. Followed by more touring and the Recording of "Blood on the Basement Floor" in 2013 on Kid Tested/Go Kart Records. Since this the dudes have continued to play all over the U.S. and Canada, sharing bills with a ton of bands including Agent Orange, The Queers, The Spits, Teenage Bottlerocket, The Lillingtons, Guttermouth, Toys that kill, Mustard Plug, Off with their Heads, Manges, Parasites, Sloppy Seconds, The Business, Suicide Machines.....etc.

Teenage Bottlerocket
Punk
Teenage Bottlerocket have always been about the essentials: fast songs, fun shows, and friends who feel more like family. With their new album Ready to Roll, dropping this September on Pirates Press Records, they’re leaning harder than ever into the punk rock values that started it all—no gimmicks, no agenda, just straight-up energy, melody, and mayhem.
Written with zero pressure and maximum heart, Ready to Roll is a celebration of everything that’s kept TBR going for over two decades. “We just wanted to write songs that felt good to play,” the band explains. “No overthinking, no distractions—just punk rock the way it’s always felt right to us.” That spirit courses through every second of the album, recorded at The Blasting Room (Descendents, Rise Against) with longtime friend and producer Andrew Berlin, and mastered by Jason Livermore. It’s got the urgency and hooks you’ve come to expect from Teenage Bottlerocket, along with a few curveballs that remind you they’re not done surprising you yet.
The album also marks the beginning of a new chapter, partnering with Pirates Press Records—a label known for quality, creativity, and serious vinyl cred. “Pirates Press has pressed records for half the punk scene,” says the band. “To have them behind Ready to Roll means we get to go wild with the physical release. They understand what makes a great punk record—from the music to the packaging—and that’s a perfect fit for us as collectors and fans.”
Even with this fresh partnership, TBR isn’t turning the page on their past. “We’ve had an incredible run with Fat Wreck Chords and nothing but love for them,” they say. “We’re proud of everything we’ve built together, and we’re stoked to be doing this new release with their full support.”
The first single, “She’s the Shit,” is already making waves—a fast, cheeky love song inspired by frontman Ray Carlisle’s wife, Rachel. “She gives me shit all the time, and I love her for it,” he laughs. “It’s about blasting tunes in the car, teasing each other, and being totally yourself with someone who gets it.” It’s the kind of song that makes you crank the volume, grin like an idiot, and remember why punk rock rules.
With Ready to Roll, Teenage Bottlerocket aren’t chasing trends or reinventing the wheel—they’re doubling down on what they do best. It’s fast. It’s loud. It’s catchy. It’s brown and gold (if you know, you know). And most of all, it’s a reminder that punk is still very much alive, especially when it’s played by a band that never forgot why they started.
Pre-orders, vinyl variants, and new tour dates are all on the way.
Let’s shred.

Punk
A good band name always gives the potential listener some idea what sort of music to expect. (Bad band names are ones that mess with those expectations: a certain artsy-jangly guitar pop band of the early '90s would have been much more successful had they not been called , which sounds like the name of a scabrous hardcore act.) Chicago-based pop-punk band the Methadones is an excellent case in point: methadone -- not to be confused with methamphetamine, aka crystal meth -- being the drug prescribed to recovering heroin addicts who are attempting to get clean through a rehab-type regimen, the listener immediately expects world-weary, sadder but wiser punk rock, perhaps with a rootsy edge, not unlike the best of or . The Methadones deliver in full on that promise, but also add a bubblegummy power pop side to their music that makes them equally attractive to fans of the post- cadres of mall punk bands.
