Growing Pains
Growing Pains
Alternative Rock
Growing Pains is Kalia Storer (bass/vocals), Carl Taylor (guitar), Jack Havrilla (guitar/vocals) and Kyle Kraft (drums). The members met each other playing covers at the School of Rock in Portland, Oregon when they were 16 and 17; six months later, they were trying out their own material at Portland all-ages mecca Black Water and in basements around the city, quickly turning heads at early shows that, according to more than a few of those in attendance, sounded like “if Mazzy Star were an emo band.” Taking influence from the oceanic sonics of My Bloody Valentine and Slowdive, Growing Pains's new EP 'Thought I Heard Your Car' shows the group exploring a heavy, claustrophobic soundscape that has come to define their stunning live shows. Whether it’s breakbeat-lined grooves or a Taxi Driver sample, there is nothing the group won’t try to express their musical catharsis to the fullest extent. One can rest easy knowing they have a new Growing Pains EP to play over and over again as they wait to see what lies next for the ever-evolving group.

Jakki & The Pink Smudge
Jakki & The Pink Smudge
Alternative Rock
Jakki and the Pink Smudge, affectionately known as Smudge, is an indie rock outfit from Portland, Oregon, with a bright, fuzzy bite. Their sound lives at the crossroads of indie punk, dreamy fuzz rock, and peachy pop edge, built on gritty guitar riffs, tight grooves, and hypnotic textures. You can hear flashes of their inspirations in the bold spark of No Doubt, the atmospheric moods of Radiohead, and the lo-fi sweetness of Galaxie 500, filtered through a voice and style that feel entirely their own.
For years, Smudge performances were shaped by an ever-changing lineup of hand-picked musicians. Each show took on a new chemistry, allowing the songs to grow, bend, and surprise in real time. This rotating cast became a hallmark of the project and helped fuel its sense of experimentation and play.
Smudge now enters a new chapter with a permanent rhythm section featuring Oliver Lester on bass and Charlie Oakes on drums. With their debut album released in May 2025 and a solidified live band, Smudge steps into this next season with renewed focus, sharper energy, and a sound that continues to evolve and build upon itself.
